Neither Maya nor 3DS Max were used for this. A week into it, I almost rebuilt it in Maya but decided against it for two reasons:
1) After Effects gave it a certain look that we wanted, and
2) the client needed an easy way to change the titles in the end, and we needed to deliver an editable file...so AE it was.
